Steve Geller is the Principal Attorney of Geller Law Firm, and has been practicing law for over 35 years. He is a Broward County Commissioner, and served in the Florida Legislature for 20 years, 9 years in the Florida House of Representatives, and 11 years in the Senate. When he retired from the Florida Legislature in 2008 because of Term Limits, he was the Minority (Democratic) Leader of the Florida Senate. He served on the committees regulating gaming the entire 20 years he was in the Legislature, including serving as Chair of the committee. Geller is an “A-V Preeminent ” rated lawyer, and chaired the Gaming Law Practice Group at Greenspoon Marder, a national Law Firm, until he left Greenspoon Marder when he was elected to the County Commission in 2016. Geller was the Founder of the National Council of Legislators from Gaming States (NCLGS) and served as National President of NCLGS for 10 years. Geller has been named in Florida Super Lawyers, The Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers, South Florida’s Top Rated Lawyers, and received other awards of distinction for his legal abilities and reputation.
Geller speaks across the United States on a regular basis at numerous Gaming-related conferences, most often on the topics of Internet gaming, Indian gaming, Pari-mutuels, and the future of Gaming in the State of Florida. He has also spoken on the Lottery, cruises to nowhere, and most other gaming-related topics. Geller has represented State and National clients on gaming and other related issues and is a registered lobbyist in Tallahassee for various clients, including gaming interests. He has provided analysis on Florida and National gaming issues to Investment Houses and has given legal opinions on gaming issues to numerous clients. Geller is “of-counsel” to Sachs Sax Caplan Law firm.
